Program Introduction
The GSIP, or Global Service Internship Program, provides students with the opportunity to intern at international non-governmental organizations (NGOs). This experience allows our students to gain valuable insights into the operational models of such organizations, as well as the social and cultural development in Southeast Asia, through a series of learning, exploration, and reflection activities.
At GPE, we are dedicated to creating an international educational environment and fostering students with diverse global perspectives. In addition to enriching our department through curriculum design, foreign faculty, and international student admissions, we are committed to expanding our global reach. In line with this commitment, we have extended our international initiatives beyond the existing "Going Abroad in Junior Year" program to include the GSIP program, starting from the 103rd academic year.
The GSIP program offers a thematic experiential learning journey centered around Southeast Asia and the operations of NGOs. Selected students undergo comprehensive training throughout the academic year before embarking on their summer internships in Southeast Asian countries. The program covers a wide range of topics, including political and economic development, ethnicity, language and culture, and cultural tourism.
The GSIP program encompasses basic and extracurricular knowledge training, professional course instruction, and hands-on practice during the summer break. This culminates in a series of outcome presentations after the internship concludes. Through integrated teaching courses, students are guided to develop an "exploration map of Southeast Asian/Pacific social and cultural development" in their minds, cultivating a truly comprehensive and diverse international cultural perspective.
