The department holds a department-wide gathering once every semester, bringing together students from all year levels and faculty members through a casual dining format to encourage interaction and communication. In addition to the department chair, faculty members from both the undergraduate and graduate programs were invited to attend. This semester’s participating faculty included Dean Bao Cheng-Hao, Professor Leonard, Professor Anna, Professor Chou Ying-Lung, Professor Hu Ching-Shan, and Professor Hsu Hung-Hsin.
Discussions between faculty and students extended beyond academic coursework and included daily life conversations, holiday experiences, preparations for the Junior Year Abroad program, and graduate school admission results. As first-year students made up the majority of participants, the primary topics of discussion focused on study abroad preparation, overseas learning and living experiences, and students’ academic progress.
In addition, several senior students attended the gathering, and conversations with them mainly centered on future academic and career development. During these exchanges, it was learned that one student had been admitted to the International Master’s Program in Asia-Pacific Studies at National Chengchi University. This achievement not only demonstrates the effectiveness of the department’s English-medium instruction, but also serves as strong encouragement for faculty members who have long been committed to teaching in English.
Finally, the event reflected the department’s core philosophy of holistic “Triple Education” development by providing whole-person education opportunities. With the assistance of the student association, students participated in meal preparation, venue setup, post-event cleanup, and restoration, allowing them to gain diverse learning and practical experiences beyond the classroom.
