The pre-departure training program was successfully completed. Through Professor Chou Ying-Lung’s lecture, students gained a more systematic understanding of Taiwan’s electoral system and political operations. The session began with an introduction to several common electoral systems, emphasizing that no single system is absolutely perfect, as each is shaped by its own social and political context. A system suitable for Taiwan may not necessarily be appropriate for other countries.
The course then explained the various electoral systems currently used in Taiwan, including the rationale behind their design and how they function in practice. The importance of this training program was also highlighted, ensuring that students would have a basic understanding of Taiwan’s electoral system before going abroad.
In addition, the course briefly introduced the main characteristics of each internship organization, helping students better understand the potential fields and issues they may encounter during their internships. Through this training, it is hoped that students will not only be able to engage in effective communication during their overseas internships, but also further reflect on the perspectives, experiences, and suggestions they themselves can contribute to the host organizations.
