The event began with an opening introduction by Director Lin Wei-Hsiu, who provided an overview of the GSIP program and introduced the organizations that have collaborated with the program over the years. This gave junior students who are interested in participating in the program a general understanding of the partner organizations and the objectives of the internships.
As the senior students from ANFREL are currently studying abroad, they specially prepared a video presentation. Through four photographs that held special meaning to them, they shared their internship responsibilities, as well as their experiences of cultural exchange and daily life during the internship period.
Next, senior students from another internship organization, Bersih, presented their experiences through an interview-style video documenting their visits to Malaysian non-governmental organizations. Through the video, participants gained a deeper understanding of Malaysia’s political environment and civil society. In their presentation, they also shared their cultural experiences, the challenges and rewards encountered during the internship, and details of their work responsibilities.
Finally, Professor Chou Ying-Lung, last year’s program director, provided guidance on important points to note during the selection process. He helped junior students better understand the application procedures and interview preparation, while also introducing the courses and program activities that successful applicants would be required to participate in after selection.
Through this sharing session, the presentations not only demonstrated the students’ actual work experiences within the organizations, but also aimed to help junior students gain a more authentic understanding of Thailand and Southeast Asian countries, thereby breaking common stereotypes about the region. The event also provided a valuable opportunity to review the achievements and learning outcomes gained during the one-month internship period. Furthermore, it gave junior students a more comprehensive understanding of the future selection process, internship content, and overseas experiences.
Applications for the GSIP selection process for Academic Year 114 are expected to open next month, with the selection process scheduled to take place at the beginning of the next semester.
